My background includes a heavy focus in math and science as I am a recent graduate from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering. I currently work full time for the United States Navy as a part of the quality assurance department for the production of naval propulsion systems.
My current career venture is the direct result of my time in high school working as a research assistant as well as serving as a team leader on the Upper Darby High School Robotics and Engineering team. Upon graduating, I became a dedicated college mentor. This experience allowed me to work with kids one-on-one as well as in groups to teach them about math and science principals and how they can be applied. As I developed a mentor level rapport with the students, I was also often the person they would come to for help and guidance with their schoolwork.
Prior to my time mentoring, I spent many hours during the school year and over summer break working with middle school aged girls with Club and Camp Ophelia, a program dedicated to educating young girls about relational aggression. This was, at times, a difficult task, but I was always able to get the girls to focus and participate in meaningful conversations.
While I am thoroughly enjoying starting my career with the Navy and intend to continue it, I am also very interested in expanding my horizons and adding this rewarding opportunity to my repertoire.
